Chocolate Cake
Cakes are a type of food that has been enjoyed for centuries. The earliest cakes are thought to date back to ancient Egypt. Chocolate cakes were a delicacy when chocolate was first introduced as a means to flavor desserts. Chocolate arrived in Europe upon the return of the Spanish from Central America, its popularity spreading across Europe over the span of only a few years, its exotic flavor appealing to confectioners for the flavor, creativity and popularity it allowed them, as well as royalty and the wealthy elite. It wasn't until certain progress in processing chocolate came about that chocolate was available to the average population in forms other than drink or cakes.
One popular chocolate cake recipe is the German Chocolate cake recipe. German chocolate cake did not come from Germany, the chocolate it was made from did not come from Germany, and the man who invented the recipe lived in Texas.
